Reflections on Media and Politics

Civility Code

Memory Hole Blog welcomes vigorous debate and dissenting viewpoints. The comment threads are intended to be a space for thoughtful, good-faith discussion of the issues raised in our posts. To keep that space productive, we ask all participants to observe the following guidelines.

Engage the argument, not the person

Criticize ideas, evidence, and reasoning. Personal insults, name-calling, and ad hominem attacks against other commenters or the authors are discouraged and may be removed.

Argue in good faith

Represent others’ positions accurately, cite sources where you can, and be willing to revise your view in light of better evidence. Trolling, deliberate provocation, and bad-faith disruption have no place here.

Keep it lawful and on topic

Do not post threats, harassment, incitement to violence, defamation, or content that is unlawful. Stay reasonably on topic, and avoid spamming, off-topic promotion, or repetitive posting.

Respect privacy

Do not publish the private personal information of others (“doxxing”), and do not impersonate other people or entities.

Moderation

Comments are not pre-screened and do not represent the views of Memory Hole Blog. We reserve the right, but assume no obligation, to edit, withhold, or remove comments that violate these guidelines, and to restrict participation by those who repeatedly disregard them. Decisions about moderation rest with the site’s owner.
